The Ruhr-University Research School actively supports highly qualified doctoral candidates by offering individual research grants. The research grants are offered as RUB-Grants, private grants or as grants funded by corporate sponsorships.
The application for grants is open to doctoral candidates from any scientific discipline and nationality intending to realise their doctoral research project at Ruhr-University Bochum.
Doctoral candidates can apply with ambitious and innovative research projects making an important contribution to the corresponding research field. Your project has to be realised in the context of one of the research areas of the Ruhr-University.
Receiving a grant is connected with the admission to the Ruhr-University Research School and doctoral candidates will perform their doctorate according to the guidelines of the Research School. You have to follow the Individual Training and Supervision Plan, will be supported by a first and second supervisor and have to take part in a structured research training programme. In addition you are expected to take over some organisational responsibility within the Research School.
