Research-related training
The research-related training is intended to provide in-depth disciplinary and interdisciplinary competence for and beyond the individual research project. This part of the training programme will be realised in strong collaboration with the faculties and their own initiatives (International Graduate School Biology, Graduate School for Chemistry and Biochemistry) and the research programmes like Collaborative Research Centres (SFBs), Research Units (FGs), Marie-Curie Acitvities (EU-MC), Research Training Groups (GRKs), Graduate Schools (GSs) of the Ruhr-University Bochum. Further more the involved International Max-Planck Research Schools in Dortmund (IMPRS-CB) and in Düsseldorf (IMPRS-SurMat) offer research related training in cooperation with the Research School.
In agreement with the principal supervisor you select individual courses like research colloquia and lectures, literature and methodology seminars and workshops and conferences from these already existing research initiatives.
- Discussion about Recent Scientific Knowledge (single activities or regular during semester) e.g. in research group seminars, research colloquia, journal clubs as well as in individual talks and lectures held by international guest-scientists or participating scientists.
(Forschungs- und Doktorandenkolloquien, Lehrstuhlseminare, Gastvorträge, Summer Schools etc.).
- Discussion about Special Research Methods (single activities or regular during semester) e.g. in methodology seminars, lab courses, research colloquia, lectures or summer schools focussing mainly on methodological issues.
- Active Participation in Scientific Communication (talk or poster of own research results) e.g. in research workshops, master classes, summer schools, conferences giving the opportunity to discuss your research work with experts of your research field. Acknowledged will be all talks or posters with you as first author. You should indicate the title of the talk or poster because identical posters or talks you presented at different conferences, workshops etc. will only be acknowledged once. Talks or posters within research group seminars or research colloquia of chairs or working groups will not be acknowledged here.
International Course Catalogue
Workshops, Seminars, Lectures held in English (or other languages)
Every semester, the International Office publishes the "International Course Catalogue" containing information about lectures and seminars in English (and other foreign languages) as well as information on the international master programmes of RUB. Though this catalogue is primarliy designed for international students you are also welcome to participate. In this case we recommend to contact the lecturer before the start of the lecture or seminar and ask if you could participate. Your participation in these master courses will be acknowledged for the structured training programm of the Research School if it supports your research qualification and your research project and was NOT part of your own study courses. We recommend to contact the CCO of the Research School for the acknowledgement of individual courses right in time. Please provide the respective documentation of your participation for the formal acknowledgement.
