Being or soon becoming a Postdoc you can benefit from this course if you are already supervising PhD researchers. You are also most welcome if you want to take your experience with the supervision of Master students one step further and prepare yourself for the supervision of future PhD researchers. Though the focus of the course is on PhD supervision, you may also transfer the techniques you learnt to other supervision contexts.

Course description

The aim of this course is to support you in re?ecting on and improving the supervision of PhD researchers (also as an opportunity to develop your individual supervision style). The course is based on the most current developments and empirical research in international PhD supervision. You learn about the most important steps that lead to successful supervisory relationships and successful advising of PhD researchers. At the end of the course you master a variety of instruments which you can immediately apply in different contexts to improve personal supervision of PhD candidates. You can expect a well-balanced mixture of lectures, exchange with other participants, and interactive sessions to practice supervisory techniques. To benefit most you should be ready to critically re?ect on your experiences or (upcoming) dif?culties of being a supervisor and a keen interest in advancing your skills and knowledge.
