Report As part of her PhD research, Mireia Paulo embarked on an insightful field trip to Zurich and Geneva, engaging with experts from various disciplines and prestigious organizations to research into data governance and security. This week-long journey was meticulously planned to maximise the value of each interaction.

Legal professionals provided insights into the regulatory landscape and the legal challenges of data security, enriching her understanding of global data governance practices. She also met with representatives from international organizations like the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and the World Economic Forum (WEF). Discussions with these experts focused on global standards and policies affecting data security, ethical data use, and privacy protection in the digital age.

A key highlight of Mireia’s trip was the interdisciplinary nature of her meetings. Interactions with experts from legal, academic, technological, and diplomatic fields provided a holistic view of the public domain she is researching, essential for addressing complex global challenges.
