Report As part of her PhD research, Mireia Paulo embarked on a very productive field trip to China. She conducted interviews in person with experts from various organisations. In addition, she visited three prestigious Chinese universities to meet with professors from International Relations and Law with the aim of establishing future long-term relationships. A two-week-long journey was meticulously planned to maximise the value of each interaction.

Mireia conducted interviews for her research. A total of 16 professionals were interviewed from authorities, academia, and the private sector. All the interviewees provided very valuable insights into the Chinese regulatory landscape in data governance, data security, and privacy protection. Interviews in person added great value to the research since the experts generously provided between 90 to 120 minutes each. The interviews were mainly conducted in Shanghai and Beijing.

Interactions with experts from legal, academic, technological, and regulators provided a comprehensive view of the public domain she is researching, essential for addressing complex global challenges. Mireia's field trip significantly enriched her PhD research. This experience underscored the importance of interdisciplinary and international cooperation in advancing knowledge. The trip opened new avenues for future meetings with other experts in the field in China and contributed to the depth and relevance of her dissertation.
