Report |
During my time in Tamale, I conducted several interviews with small-scale farmers regarding their weather perceptions and harvest expectations as well as expert interviews with agricultural extention officers, community leaders and regional ministry officials. I also piloted the DecLaRe household survey before spending a week training enumerators together with colleagues from PIK and the Ghana Statistical Service (GSS) on the survey modules. In total, 25 enumerators participated in the training and are equipped for data collection. Afterwards, I did some expert interviews and consultation meetings with colleagues from ISSER, USDA and the Ministry for Food and Agriculture (MoFA) in Accra. Overall, I was able to gain valuable insights concerning the dry spell and export ban in Ghana as well as the agricultural practices, weather and yield expectations of farmers and their adaption strategies regarding climate change. I also established valuable contacts that can help me with further research. |
