| Report | Bacteria produce a multitude of bioactive molecules to interact with their surrounding environment. These molecules have found various applications as food additives or as pharmaceuticals like antibiotics or immunosuppresives. I investigate the production and activity of molecules produced by bacteria of the genus Streptomyces, which is well known for the production of antibiotics. The International Realisation Budget-funding allowed me to visited the group of Prof. Zhijun Wang at the Microbial Metabolism laboratory in Shanghai, China.
