| Report | Finding industrially relevant enzymes from microorganisms is highly important in our shift towards a more sustainable future with „green“ industry. In this project, I visited the „Extremophile“ group under the guidance of Dr. Subhra Kanti Mukhupadhyay at The University of Burdwan (West Bengal, India) to have access to a range of hot-springs with temperature of up to 70°C. Only microorganisms with extreme adaptations proliferate in such extreme conditions. Enzymes from such extremophile organisms can be industrially relevant. During the course of my stay in India, I gathered environmental samples from hot springs and screened them for lipase (enzyme to break lipids). Initial experiments show. www.buruniv.ac.in |
