Report Thanks to PR.INT, I was given the opportunity to take part in the EuroPM 2024 conference in Malmö, Sweden. The EuroPM is the most reknown conference in the field of powder metallurgy and therefore an excellent place to present my research results and discuss them with leading representatives from both research and industry. I gave a presentation on the latest results from my doctoral project. It was about the possibility of additively processing alloys that are specially adapted to various applications. The concept involves creating these alloys on the basis of mixtures of specially adapted base powders, from which the desired alloy is then produced within the laser-based additive manufacturing process. This allows a high degree of freedom in alloy design, as the choice of material is no longer limited to the few commercially available pre-alloyed, gas atomized metal powders. The approach is called in-situ alloying and there was a dedicated session regarding this topic. The aim of my work is to expand the possible areas of application for laser- and powder-based additive manufacturing. This will allow the advantages of additive manufacturing, such as reduced material footprints, to be exploited on a larger scale.
