Thanks to the RUB Research School‘s funding for my Int.Mo.P. project I could attend several research-related events overseas in Canada, the USA and Mexico for an overall period of 4 weeks in June 2025. As a Post-Doctoral researcher working in philosophical logic these events were of great importance for me to make my research more visible and to network with senior and peer researchers that I do not get to meet regularly, since they are based in North America. First, I attended a 5-Day workshop at the Banff International Research Station (BIRS) in Canada on the topic of “Proof Representations”. These BIRS 5-Day workshops are highly esteemed in the mathematics community and since they are solely invitation-based, it was a great distinction for me to be invited, not only as a junior researcher but also more situated in philosophy than mathematics. The work in logic is very interdisciplinary in general, though, so this was a valuable opportunity for me to get in contact with people from more mathematical and computer science-oriented areas. Also, I could present my work during a lightning talk and thus get my work better known in this community. Then I went to the North American Summer School on Logic, Language and Information (NASSLLI), where I co-taught a course on Proof-Theoretic Semantics, one of my core research areas. Being accepted for teaching such a course is a highly competitive business, so that this will also have increased my visibility as an expert in this area. Overall, I am very certain that attending these events was a great success, that it helped furthering my research and visibility of my profile and that it strengthened important personal contacts for my future career in academia. |
