Report This PR.INT grant was dedicated to a research stay in Georgia, related to my PhD thesis on Iron Age pottery from the Dzedzvebi settlement.
During the three-week research stay, the work was divided into two phases. The first week took place in Tbilisi, where, together with archaeologists from the Georgian National Museum, the excavation documentation was discussed and incorporated into my study.
The second phase was conducted in the archives of the Bolnisi Museum in the Kvemo Kartli region, where the excavated material is stored. The study focused on material from two different trenches: Trench IV,2 and IV,5. The pottery studied from Trench IV,2 came from 32 features with varying characteristics, while the material from Trench IV,5 was coming from 11 features. For ceramic material lacking photographs and/or drawings, a photogrammetry process was carried out. This will allow the drawings of the material to be generated later at my home institution in Germany.
