Report Participation in the 59th Hawaiian International Conference on System Sciences (HICSS)
The 59th HICSS took place on Maui from January 6 to 9, 2026. There, I had the opportunity to present two publications as lead author.
On January 7, I presented my paper “Decoding the Twin Transformation in B2B Firms – A Taxonomy of Digital and Sustainable Business Model Approaches” in the minitrack session “Advancing the Twin Transition: Digital Technologies in Sustainable Service Ecosystems and the Circular Economy.” I received valuable feedback on possible further research and exciting perspectives opened up by the taxonomy developed, such as the key role of employees in the twin transformation of companies.
On January 9, I had the opportunity to present the paper “Challenges for Platform Ecosystems in the Mobility Domain – Insights from Mobility-as-a-Service” in the mini-track session “Managing Platforms and Ecosystems.” Here, too, I received constructive feedback on the further development of the manuscript with a view to journal publication, in particular on narrowing down the mobility context.
Beyond the sessions, I participated in a workshop on “Echeloned Design Science Research,” where a new research method was presented and applied in a group sprint. In addition, the Women's Networking Event and the Welcome and Closing Receptions provided excellent opportunities to network. Overall, participating in the conference was an important milestone for my future career in research, as it opened up opportunities to plan new research projects with international partners. Mahalo (thank you very much) for the support!
