Course Description

This workshop is designed as a comprehensive introduction for doctoral researchers with a specific focus on project and time management skills for their doctoral projects. Participants learn to set smart goals, structure their own project, and manage their goals by using relevant management tools – from master plans for the entire project to day plans.

The workshop will focus on mid-term project planning, calculating one´s own workload, setting priorities and organizing time on the level of daily and weekly routines. In this context participants reflect on their individual working style, deal with setbacks and learn to manage the interpersonal relationships with supervisors and peers in their projects. The aim of the workshop is to provide strategies and skills making the complex research project manageable.

The workshop´s methods range from trainer input to individual project planning, group works and plenum discussions. The course is completed by a “Survival Kit PhD” where participants profit from sharing their experiences with peers and with the trainer.

Objectives of the workshop are:

  • success factors for research projects
