Course description
The advanced communication workshop provides skills and competencies supporting you in being responsible for a successful and effective communication. It prepares you for taking over responsibility for e.g. supervising students, running projects, communicating with other researchers or – maybe in your near future - leading people. The workshop goes beyond theory and works mostly with hands-on exercises and practices to advance your abilities, generate new solutions and answer questions. Being successful in communication also means to find a way under any given circumstance to communicate confidently, competently and effectively – this is being practiced in this workshop.

The training atmosphere fosters an active discourse of the individual`s experience, questions and challenges as a professional communicator. Through self-reflection initiated by group work, individual processes and feedback, solutions are being developed which in turn are enriched by the trainer`s input and knowledge. Strategies and suggestions are always considered from a situational point of view. This turns theoretical understanding into practical application.

In this advanced seminar, we use group discussions, individual experiential processes and exchange of knowledge and best practice in the group. Participants are invited to actively engage, share their knowledge and experience. Competences that allow coping with various challenges in difficult communication contexts are a special focus in this workshop.

In detail the workshop deals with:

  • basic ingredients of effective communication
    • communication model
    • communicating when message is not clear, confusing or complicated
    • body Language in communication: do’s and dont’s
  • hands-on practice of communication in
