Course description

The academic world is increasingly characterised by project-based work. Knowledge of project management tools is therefore a central prerequisite for mastering the challenges of projects in science.

The success of projects depends on the use of appropriate project management techniques as well as professional management of the "human factor". Success factors are clear communication and goal setting, realistic project planning, clarification of roles, responsibilities and processes in the project, and a team that identifies with the project goals.

This online workshop provides an overview of relevant project management techniques with a focus on scientific projects. It will be held in two blocks on subsequent days, succeeded by a follow-up meeting approximately six weeks after the workshop. Special attention is paid to the transfer of what has been learned into everyday project work.

Focal points

  • Preconditions and success factors for research projects
  • Conception, planning and execution of research projects
  • Setting project goals and deriving realistic working packages
  • Managing communication and the “human factor” in projects
  • “Survival Kit” for research projects

Trainer:

Dr. Nils Reschke holds a doctorate in cultural studies and has been a trainer, consultant and coach in academia since 2006.
