The Research School PLUS gave me the opportunity to attend at the 246th
National
Meeting of the American Chemical Society in Indianapolis, USA. Conferences are in
general the places to make new contacts and meet other young scientists, exchange
ideas about chemistry and discuss about recent progress in your research area. Thanks to the funding I could present my work in an oral presentation in front of a big
audience. Giving a talk at an international conference is something I can recommend
to all Ph.D. students
. Besides the nice feeling that you get after surviving the
question and answer part,
it is a nice start of discussions
with other professors and
students during the poster session. Like that I was having fruitful discussions with
Prof. Girolami,
University of Urbana
-
Champaign in
Illinois (USA), and his students.
We
exchanged our new progress in the development of precursors for the chemical
vapor deposition of metal oxides
and the choice of suitable ligands
for their design.
I ́m now back in the lab in Bochum to transfer
the ideas I got during the conference to
my doctoral project and with more confidence for (hopefully) further presentation on
conferences and seminars. |
