Alfred Newen has been Professor of Philosophy at Ruhr-Universität Bochum since 2007. He received his PhD from the University of Bonn and conducted research in Tübingen, Bonn, Bremen, and Oxford. He is the speaker of the Research Training Group "Situated Cognition" and has been PI of the FOR 2812 "Constructing Scenarios of the Past", both funded by DFG..

He was selected as a Scout of the Henriette Herz Scouting Program in 2022.
