Equal opportunities on the academic career path
Our understanding and support
Everyone who is interested in a doctorate or is already on the academic career path comes with different individual requirements and perspectives. As a university-wide institution for the promotion of early career researchers, it is very important to us to support your doctorate and your further professional journey at RUB - regardless of your cultural, social or biographical background.
In order to support academic talent in the best possible way, we want to make the conditions, framework requirements and opportunities of an academic career as transparent and visible as early as possible. In doing so, we help to understand and consider special personal requirements and possible obstacles - also with regard to our offers.
- Workshops & Events: We strive to enable all doctoral candidates to participate in the qualification program. If you have any special needs, please note these on the registration form or contact us directly. Detailed information on accessibility can be found here.
- Funding lines: Individual consideration of unavoidable personal restrictions and special personal situations.
- Compensation for disadvantages in the doctoral regulations: All doctoral regulations at RUB take into account the needs of doctoral candidates with health impairments. The doctoral regulations and the application form for compensation for disadvantages can be found in our downloads section.
Detailed information on doctoral and career planning, funding opportunities, participation in workshops and events can be found on the relevant sub pages of our website.
We support Ruhr University's commitment
Diversity and equal opportunities are central components of Ruhr University Bochum's self-image. The university sees the diversity of the people who work, study, research, and teach here as a great strength. It fosters an environment in which everyone - regardless of their cultural and biographical background - can develop their skills and talents. This is also reflected in the signing of the Diversity Charter (Charta der Vielfalt). RUB Research School fully shares this mission. Therefore, we would like to make the following contacts and information on the topics of diversity and inclusion at RUB visible:
- RUB Diversity-Portal
- RUB Inclusive university
- Representative for severely disabled persons (SBV)
- Familiengerechte Hochschule
- Welcome Centre
- IT support
- Lending of technical aids for the participation in events
