Lars Borchardt has been Professor of Inorganic Chemistry at Ruhr-Universität Bochum since 2019. He received his PhD from the Technical University Dresden and conducted research at Drexel University during his doctorate. Afterwards, he was a postdoc at ETH Zurich and a BMBF Group Leader at TU Dresden. Lars Borchardt was awarded with the prestigious ERC Starting Grant in 2020 for his research on using milling balls as catalysts.

He was selected as a Scout of the Henriette Herz Scouting Program in 2023.
