Multi-Wavelength Astronomy
[Please note that there are no spots available for the time being]
Anna Franckowiak has been Professor of Multi-Wavelength Astronomy at Ruhr University Bochum since 2020. She received her PhD at the University of Bonn in 2011 and conducted research at the SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory at Stanford and the German Electron Synchrotron DESY in Zeuthen, where she led a Helmholtz Young Investigator Group.
The research focus of her group is multi-wavelength and multi-messenger astronomy and particularly the highest-energy processes in the universe, which they study with optical and gamma radiation and with the only weakly interacting neutrinos. She was selected as a Scout of the Henriette Herz Scouting Program in 2021.
Multi-messenger Astronomy is a unique tool to study the high-energy universe. It provides insights into the processes hosted in the most extreme environments, such as exploding stars or accreting supermassive black-holes. We are looking forward to host outstanding young international researchers in our group to work on topics such as multi-wavelength follow-up of high-energy neutrinos and building the first wide-field optical polarimeter.
