BP Refinery Gelsenkirchen: Career perspectives in times of change - all
27.10.2016 morning - early afternoon (with lunch).
BP Gelsenkirchen operates a complex refinery with a large number of refining and petrochemical plants. The Gelsenkirchen site is owned by Ruhr Oel GmbH and is one of the largest employers in the region with around 1,700 employees. It produces petrol and diesel grades, heating oils, aviation fuel and petrochemical base materials for films, paints, plastics, foams and fertilisers, among other things. In addition, management and administrative staff are employed at the site.
BP Europa SE, of which the Gelsenkirchen refinery is 50% owned, received the independent "Top Employer Germany 2016" certificate and is one of Germany's best employers for the thirteenth time. The company is currently undergoing restructuring processes - like many large corporations - in order to remain marketable. You can find out what entry and career prospects these change processes can mean for highly qualified academics and what job prospects BP offers as a company during our visit to the refinery in Gelsenkirchen.
During our visit we will
- get to know the refinery in Gelsenkirchen
- get to know BP as an employer and as a company
- tour the refinery and visit a slag heap that is not open to the public and offers a wonderful view over the Ruhr area
Here you will find all information about BP Gelsenkirchen.
We will travel together by bus, which we will provide.
Please contact Dr. Ursula Justus with any questions.
