Report | Funding by RUB Research Schoolplus enabled me to attend the biggest chemical conference worldwide: 246th American Chemical Society (ACS) National Meeting & Exposition. This conference is held twice a year in the USA and more than 8000 chemists, academics and students are invited. This time the conference was taking place in Indianapolis from September 8 to September 12 2013 with the theme “Chemistry in Motion”. My two abstracts were accepted, so I had the possibility to give an oral talk and to show a poster about two different topics in my research in the division of Inorganic Chemistry. This was a great chance to meet other scientists who are also concerned with this special research to show them my results and to discuss with them. Also there were a big number of different talks depending on their division. So I got the chance to switch between different divisions and also to hear from my research independent talks. Besides in the Exposition Hall were many companies to find which were introducing themselves and made advertising. There I also got an impression about actual interesting things in the chemical industry and I got the chance to meet chemists, who have still started with their industrial career. In the end the conference and the stay in the USA were a great experience for me and gave me new ideas for my doctoral research. http://www.acs.org/content/acs/en.html |
