Report | I visited Professor Kysar’s lab at Columbia University, where state-of-the-art experimental studies are performed to reveal the mechanisms of severe plastic deformation in crystals. During my stay Professor Kysar introduced me to experimental techniques used to identify the features of plasticity in metals. We agreed upon collaboration to combine our theoretical model and his experimental techniques to perform realistic calculations predicting grain formation in crystals. Prior to the lab visit, I attended the International Conference on Material Modeling in Berkeley, where I had the opportunity to present our model and to discuss my research with a diverse group of experts in the field. me.columbia.edu/jeffrey-kysar |
