| Report | My doctoral project deals with the analysis and prediction of spelling errors in German primary school children's texts. With funding from Research School Plus, I was able to spend eight weeks at the University of California, Santa Barbara, in order to improve the quantitative analysis of my data together with Prof. Dr. Stefan Gries at the Department of Linguistics. During my stay, I made great progress in my data analysis. I learned to apply new methods on the data, which opened new possibilities for interpretation. Many fruitful discussions with Prof. Gries helped me gain a deeper understanding of the modeling process and the pitfalls that have to be avoided. |
