Report | Spending almost 10 years in Bochum I was facing the decision every PhD student has to take: academia or industry? After taking the decision to (at least) extend my scientific live the financial support to start a postdoc project appeared to be the bottleneck and I was grateful for the opportunities provided by the RURS Plus. With the financial support of the Gateway Fellowship I was able to start working in an outstanding research environment at Department of Physics, Technical University of Denmark (DTU) and in particular in the photocatalysis lab headed by Ib Chorkendorff. My decision to join DTU was mainly based on its reputation in the scientific community, the outstanding international collaborations, and the creative and future-orientated work environment. The new insights and the gathered knowledge will certainly support the development of my future career in either academia or industry. Therefore, in my opinion the RURS is an excellent initiative for young researchers. http://www.dtu.dk/ |
