Report The Ecodesign international Symposium is the most important meeting platform in the world on the field of environmentally friendly design (ecodesign). It takes place every two years. Thanks to the financial support of the RUB Research School Plus I was able to attend and present and article at the 8th edition of this event (December 4th – 6th, 2013) at Jeju island, South Korea. The title of the article was „Towards an assistant system for rough energy efficiency assessment of product alternatives - Case study of industrial-crane gearboxes“. A total of 115 articles were selected and presented this year. It has been for me particularly interesting to see what the scientific and industrial communities are doing in the ecodesign field. Over 200 academic and industrial delegates from over 20 countries worldwide have attended the Ecodesign symposium this year. Therefore, this event was also for me a unique opportunity for networking within this community. Moreover, I had the opportunity to be in a wonderful land, South Korea and discover its rich culture. In summary, attending the Ecodesign symposium of this year has been for me a very valuable experience from both professional and personal perspectives.
