Report Thanks to International Realization Budget-funding I was able to continue a series of research stays in Italy with a visit to three cities in the Emilia-Romagna: Modena, Reggio Emilia and Parma. The fact, that these cities are connected by the Via Emilia since 187 BC predestined them as a region of artistic exchange between the north and the south of Italy until early modern times. Since the panels I work on in my dissertation are of moderate scale and therefore were transported all across Italy and Europe in the 15th and 16th century, conducting field research in this region helped me to get a better grasp of how objects were distributed and how 'imported' artworks functioned as an inspiration for local workshops.
