| Report | My International Realization Budget-funded research stay in Milan, Bergamo, Monza and Como was focused on studying the artworks in the collections and churches on site. I was not only able to develop a broader understanding of the characteristic of early Renaissance painting in this area, but could also find important clues to support the hypothesis of my PhD-project. In Bergamo, for example, I found a fresco of an unknown artist in the crypt of San Michele al Pozzo Bianco, that for the first time provides me with visual evidence for the use of small format paintings of Saint Jerome in monastic prayer. |
