Report | My PhD project in the department of Animal Ecology, Biodiversity and Evolution at the RUB focusses on population genetic processes in coral reefs. The financial support of the Research School PLUS enabled me to visit the Ocean Science Meeting (OSM) conference in Honolulu (February 2014). At the OSM I could present my research in front of the scientific community and thereby gained new experiences in presenting, discussing and defending my work. Furthermore, I came into contact with other people from different research areas within marine biology from all over the globe and I was able to start a network with other PhDs and Postdocs. The visit at the research station Coconut Island also extends my horizon and broadens my knowledge as a marine biologist. Summarized, visiting the OSM conference/ Coconut Island had exclusively positive effects on my work by getting new insights and by establishing new contacts. www.udel.edu |
