Report | The topic of my PhD is logical and pragmatic competence in natural language reasoning. To present results of my EEG experiment on processing of scalar implicatures I went to the conference Sinn und Bedeutung 18 in Vitoria - Gasteiz (Basque Country, Spain; 10 - 13 September 2013) which is an annual meeting of the Gesellschaft für Semantik. The conference addresses issues devoted to natural language semantics, pragmatics, the syntax - semantics interface, psycholinguistic aspects of meaning, or philosophy of language. It is probably the most important semantic conference in Europe. It is worth to mention that this year's edition of Sinn und Bedeutung was preceded by one-day workshop From Grammar to Meaning: the Spontaneous Logicality of Language (09.09.2013) in honor of Gennaro Chierchia on the occasion of his birthday. I came one day earlier especially to participate in this workshop. The conference participation was a great experience for me. I was able to discuss my results with many other linguists and attend interesting talks and lectures given by international experts. http://www.phil-fak.uni-duesseldorf.de/asw/gfs/ |
