Report | My PhD project examines how astrologers of the thirteenth and fourteenth centuries presented themselves as ideal scholars and how they were perceived in criticisms that were directed at them. As medieval astrology has been long disregarded as a field of scientific research, many of the key astrological texts are still only available in manuscript form. With the support of the Research School PLUS I had the opportunity to spend December 2019–February 2020 in archives in Bologna and Oxford to consult important astrological manuscripts. The stay allowed me to advance my thesis thematically, improve my paleographical skills and to expand my international network considerably. |
