Report As a VIP, then a grantee of 'Innovators Fund' from RUB Research School I was able to conduct two research field trips: in Ethiopia (2017) and in Armenia (2018) to explore various issues of cultural connectivities in medieval Armenia. In the first case, I explored the Armenian heritage in Ethiopia, as well as Armenian-Ethiopian relations in the pre-modern period. In the second case I organised a field research and archaeological survey of the medieval Armenian settlement of Yeghegis (still inhabited), where the team I put together explored especially the medieval Jewish Cemetery. An article on Armenian-Ethiopian relations is in press for the journal Aethiopica - International Journal of Ethiopian and Eritrean Studies. A collected volume on medieval Yeghegis is planned for publication in early 2022. Besides these opportunities for field research, the 'Innovators fund' allowed me also to organise a series of lectures entitles "Religious Encounters between the Mediterranean and the Indian Ocean" at the Centre for Religious Studies, inviting scholars from around the world to present their cutting edge research on this subject to the CERES and interested RUB community.
