Report The goal of this project is to advance our fundamental understanding of the structure and bonding of the actinides. This will be accomplished by a systematic study of yldiide ligands coordinated to tetravalent metals, specifically Ti, Zr, Hf, Ce, Th, and U. Additionally, bisylide ligands will be used to coordinate to trivalent metals, La, Y, Lu, U, and Np. Structural, spectroscopic, and computational analysis of metal-carbon donor adducts, bisylides, and monoanionic ligands (yldiides), both of which have the ability form metal-ligand multiple bonding, will be used to provide direct comparison of the bonding in d- and f-block elements.
