| Report | The Research School Plus funding allowed me to investigate the interior collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Tenement Museum in New York City. Two topics in particular were at the center of my research stay. One part was devoted to matters of provenance: by conducting archival research, I was able to assemble pivotal, as yet unpublished material, which I will process in my dissertation. The other part concerned questions of display and current strategies of exhibiting and interpreting historical interiors. Discussions and interviews with the always very helpful curators, conservators, and artists did not only provide an invaluable contribution to my work on this topic, but they also formed the fruitful basis for potential upcoming research projects. |
