Report |
I conducted a research stay at the Institute of Behavioral Science and Technology, University of St. Gallen in Switzerland to gain hands-on experience with innovative research methods such as mobile sensing and machine learning from one of the leading researchers in this field. Using data from a study that collected both repeated short questionnaire responses assessing momentary behaviors, situations, and feeling and continuous passive data (e.g., GPS, Bluetooth, activity) using smartphone sensors in people's everyday lives, we examined dynamics in people's behaviors in response to environmental stressors. The first collaborative publication from this project is currently in the making. During the research stay, I was able to learn a lot about research methods, get to know new ways of thinking and working, and make many interesting and helpful contacts. All in all, the research stay was a great success that benefited me, my dissertation, and my future career! |
