Report Thanks to the RUB Research School‘s funding for my Pr.Int project I could go to Melbourne for a 4-week research stay at one of the world’s leading centres for my PhD subject, which is in philosophical logic. During this time, I had the opportunity to present my work in the group’s research colloquium and thus, to get extensive feedback from an expert audience. It was especially helpful that the research group consisted not only of philosophers but also logicians from the computer science department, since the paper I presented is very much at the intersection between computer science and philosophy. Hence, I could get very useful feedback which I can rarely get at other venues. Also, next to presenting my work at the colloquium, I had weekly meetings with my host, who is especially known for his work on topics closely related to my PhD thesis. He was most generous with his time, and we discussed several of my papers in great detail. Getting his feedback on this was most valuable for me and greatly contributed to the fact that I was able to put the finishing touches on my PhD thesis during my time in Melbourne. Moreover, I had the chance for other personal one-to-one meetings with several logicians working in Melbourne. One of these encounters was very special for the reason that the professor has already retired and does not travel overseas anymore, so basically the only chance to meet him personally is in Melbourne. Despite his retirement, he came to the university to meet me and to discuss questions I had sent him before, which was an invaluable opportunity for me. Overall, I am very certain that doing this research stay was a great success, that it helped finishing my dissertation and that it strengthened important personal contacts for my future career in academia.
