Report | During the four weeks of my research stay in the Archives of American Art, a research center of the Smithsonian Institution in Washington D.C., I was able to explore a large quantity of the written estate of the feminist art historian and critic Linda Nochlin whose publications I investigate in my dissertation. By analysing the archival material, especially personal date books was well as correspondences via the technique of mapping I was able to widen my knowledge of Nochlins network(s) in the art scene from the 1970s onwards as well as to add to the known contacts by uncovering connections which previously remained hidden. In addition, during my time in the archive I was able to come into contact and exchange ideas with fellow US-based researchers, some of which working on similar topics which led to the tentative planning of a joint project in the future. |
