Report | During my research stay in UCD, Ireland, my research questions were: How much can the operation of heat pumps reduce emissions and decouple energy demand and supply by making the heating demand of building occupants more flexible, such as through the thermal mass of buildings? Therefore, I developed a detailed energy system model for residential buildings in Ireland and Germany. Thanks to the research stay, I was able to build an international scientific network which I can resort to for scientific discussions and collaborations. Moreover, I presented my research results at an international scientific conference, the Smart Energy Systems 2023 conference in Denmark in September 2023 and received valuable feedback on my work. Additionally, I will publish a joint journal paper in a peer-reviewed journal as a result of my research stay and as part of my PhD thesis. |
