Report Project International provided me with the opportunity to undertake a three-month research stay at the University of Houston. The aim of the research stay was to advance the data analysis for the third paper of my dissertation in collaboration with researchers in Houston. I greatly benefited from the expertise and methodological competence of the local scholars. Several classes offered the chance to learn new methods and statistical software, while doctoral seminars provided a platform for engaging discussions about research. I had the opportunity to connect with many other doctoral students from Houston and around the world as well as with a lot of professors from Houston and other universities in the United States. The positive and open research atmosphere facilitated significant progress in my dissertation project. Additionally, I had the chance to explore a different education system and broaden my horizons in the field of teaching. Some teaching elements I encountered during my stay will now be integrated into my own coursework at the RUB.
I can only highly encourage anyone who is considering going abroad for a research stay and still has doubts. You learn incredibly many new things and gain great experiences for your profession, but also for life.
