Report PR.INT funding allowed me to investigate the Archive of the Leslie-Lohman Museum of Art in New York City and the ONE Archives at the USC Libraries in Los Angeles, as well es the personal collection of art historian Jonathan D. Katz in Philadelphia, as well as the private estate in Amos and Bills Badertschers home in Baltimore. Since Badertscher's work has hardly been explored and marginally dealt with, this project allowed me to examine the works in the currently most important places for his estate. I was able to learn about archival practices in general, as well as how these different institutions are interested in queer photography and especially in Amos Badertschers work. Discussions and interviews with the always very helpful curators, conservators, friends, and family did not only provide an invaluable contribution to my work on this topic, but they also formed the essential basis for my PhD project and upcoming research projects and collaborations.
